What Is Your 3-1-9?

Three years ago today I launched what I thought was just a small consultancy for a team of one.

Now three years later, she's a full-blown agency that is both my wildest dream and the dream I never knew I'd pursue.

They always say that one of the most important steps to starting a business is picking the name and my favorite part about mine is that the name picked me.

3.19.2004. On this day, twenty years ago, I got to swap the word "patient" with "survivor" as I was pronounced FREE from Stage 4B Hodgkin's Lymphoma Cancer.

While I still had to undergo, 5 more months of intensive chemo, miss 6th grade, rock a moon face, and bald head, this was the first moment in my life where I can remember embracing change (because my life depended on it). The first time I can remember normalizing my evolution and I was only 11 years old.

I've evolved so many times into so many roles and now I've built a creative strategy agency and many lasting brands on this exact principle... Normalizing Evolution. Because that’s where the true story lies.

Back then, in the deepest parts of my young mind, I constantly questioned, "Why me? Why me?".

And just as we all do in horrible situations, we want an immediate answer or reason for that two-word heartache.

Well, fast-forward to 3.19.2024...20 years later. I finally have my answer. I finally know, "Why me".

My "WHY" was to go through something, as terminal as cancer, at a young age so that throughout the rest of my life I would be so empowered by my own story and gifts that I would use them as tools to empower others.

I now know "why me". I now know my "3-1-9".
